Craig Stevenson, MD of Braehead Foods joined the company in 1998 when it was a small supplier of game products based on a farm on the Craufurdland Estate, Ayrshire. A year later, he loved the business so much that be bought it; achieving £1m turnover in the first year. Over the next fours years the company continued to grow and moved to larger premises in Kilmarnock and achieved EEC approval to supply Europe.
In 2008, Braehead Foods moved to a 35,000 sq ft custom built warehouse and factory which was 10 times the size of the previous site giving us the opportunity to look at expanding our range.
In 2010, Braehead Foods realised there was an opportunity in the market place to develop a range of high quality purpose made products that are made by chefs, for chefs and so The Production Kitchen was born. The range has developed over the last four years and now includes terrines, hand cut poultry, potato products, roulades and much more.
A further expansion in 2014 saw the launch of the Scottish Charcuterie Company providing a range of charcuterie products using Scottish ingredients and made on site in Ayrshire.
