Tunnock’s is one of Scotland’s most iconic brands.
As Coldplay singer Chris Martin said: ‘You can’t choose between the Caramel Wafer and the Tea Cake – they’re like Lennon and McCartney – you can’t separate them.”
The company was formed in 1890 when Thomas Tunnock purchased his first bakers shop in Uddingston for just £80. Turnover today has snowballed (sorry!) to more than £50 million.
Caramel Wafers, the first of the famous five lines – Tea Cakes, Caramel Wafers, Snowballs, Caramel Logs and Wafer Creams – were launched in 1952.
SFTA members are invited to join Sales Director, Fergus Loudon, for a tour of the Tunnock’s factory in Uddingston, where more than six million Caramel Wafers and three million Tea Cakes are produced each week.
The event will begin with networking over coffee – and Tunnock’s goodies of course – followed by the tour where members will be able to see the wafer, chocolate and caramel making processes, as well as the chocolate enrobing and packing line.
Demand for this event is expected to be high, and spaces are limited to 20 people, so book today via the form below to guarantee your place.
